About Us
Mission statement
The aim of FreshwaterLife is to bring together high-quality information on freshwater habitats and the organisms living in them. By allowing easy access to information, FreshwaterLife will educate and promote the importance of the world's freshwaters. The project is based on the principle of collaboration, that by facilitating collaboration between individuals and organisations, everyone benefits.
Free access, free participation
Anyone can browse the FreshwaterLife website, and anyone can register to participate by filling in the simple online form, all you need is a valid email address. Once you have become a registered user you can suggest new sources (such as websites, documents, databases, organisations, news articles, job opportunities), start an online discussion or add whole new sections to the site.
There are many advantages to registering with FreshwaterLife, for example, you may wish to subscribe to email updates for specific topics or receive our monthly newsletter - Freshwater Matters.
Ensuring a high standard
We want to encourage everyone to contribute to FreshwaterLife, but it is important that users can trust the information they find on the site. That is why every item is checked by a subject expert (editor). Every suggestion by a registered user is passed to an editor for approval, before it is added to FreshwaterLife.
If you believe that your knowledge of a freshwater subject might be able to benefit the user community, please do consider becoming an editor. Contact the FreshwaterLife team at info@freshwaterlife.org for more information.
